Our May 12th Signature Luncheon was called to order by President Jason DeKeuster. This meeting was a special treat since one of very own, Alison Remple Brown, CEO\President of the Science Museum of Minnesota was our program speaker.
President Jason thanked his meeting support crew of Peter Rosendale, Jim Hart, Dave Dominick, Matt Magers, Ken Crabb, Beth Naughton, Tricia Wiitanen, and Lindsey Barringer.
The Inspirational Minute and 4 Way Test was provided by Tricia Wiitanen. She read a quote from Ann Bancroft's book. Beth Naughton welcomed visiting Rotarians and guests.
Ed Cook did an outstanding job introducing Alison, our speaker. Alison thanked Ed for recruiting her to join the Club.
Alison shared the State of the Museum. The Science Museum has been in Saint Paul for over 120 years and the current facility is over 30 years old. The museum has launched a $125 million capital campaign to reimaging the Museum experience and programming. The museum is staying in Saint Paul. Alison's presentation focused on "how do we inspire others to see their potential". The campaign theme is Propelling Science - and People Forward. Alison encouraged club members to attend the backyard experience at the museum this summer. A very informative presentation about this incredible State asset in Saint Paul.
President Jason shared upcoming events. Ken Crabb indicated that they are in need of more volunteers for the Science Museum. Incoming President Ken Schaefer updated the club on the youth exchange program and asked the club's help in securing 1-2 host families for the inbound student and asked club members to consider stepping into the lead chair role of this program since Linda Mulhern is retiring from this role that she has held for many years. Tricia Wiitanen encouraged club members to sign up for Grand Old Day which is June 7th.
