President Todd Nicholson welcomed attendees. He thanked Club members for a good event selling water at the St Paul Jazz Festival over the weekend. Upcoming programs include our next signature lunch meeting -- Greg Mergens on the ABCs of Health Insurance and our next 5:01 Inspiration Lounge with Joe Spencer, Downtown St Paul Alliance.
Dick Nicholson introduced our speaker, Joanie Delamater. They attended a class together at United Theological Seminary.
The Reverend Joanie Delamater is a trained and certified Healing Touch Practitioner with twenty-five years of experience. Joanie attended seminary in the 1990s and became an Episcopal priest. She has been certified by Healing Touch International and Healing Touch Spiritual Ministries.
Joanie gave a fascinating presentation on healing touch. She had a gift from an early age. When she attended the University of Saint Catherine's, a priest encouraged her to connect with nurses at United Hospital who practiced healing touch.
Joanie shared that Healing Touch is a relaxing, nurturing and heart-centered energy therapy that uses gentle intentional touch that assists in balancing physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. The goal of Healing Touch is to promote healing and to improve the body's ability to heal.
She particularly has enjoyed practicing starting healing touch for staff and residents every week at Episocpal Homes on University Ave. Energy therapy complements medical procedures & therapies.
She talked about how she can sense people's energy, what you are holding onto or pain you are dealing with. When you are out of sync, it can hinder the body's ability to heal. Healing touch is particularly good for people who deal with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health issues.
